Sababa is part of a worldwide movement towards regenerative agriculture. We draw on various different approaches to deliver the highest quality, ecologically friendly, ethically grown food.
Our selection of seasonal organic fruit is mostly comprised of peaches – three varieties of tree-ripened yellow clings, which we normally harvest between December and January. We also grow watermelon, cape gooseberries and rough-skin lemons. We could describe how utterly delectable they are, but you just have taste for yourself!
Cocktail, cherry, beef and regular tomatoes; sweet peppers; green beans; mange-tout peas; garlic; sweetcorn; cucumbers; baby marrows; various chillies; brinjals and more! We grow many different kinds of veggies in our tunnels, net-house, veggie garden and open fields throughout the year. All 100% organic, all seasonal, and all delicious.
Almonds are our sole tree-nut on offer (for now). They usually ripen around January-February. This orchard serves many a purpose within our farm ecosystem: beyond providing us with both soft and hard-shelled organic almonds, it is the home-ground for our chickens in their mobile coop, and feeds our bees with loads of sweet blossoms.
Being tea-lovers and experimenters, we’re trialling a small crop of rooibos, and have an ever-expanding herb garden with chamomile, basil, thyme, coriander, sage, lemongrass, mint, fennel, lemon-balm, parsley, and rosemary to name a few. Can you tell we like growing many different things?
At the core of our farming, is our mission to grow food that is not just tasty, fresh and beautiful, but also nutrient-rich and healthy; in a way that is morally right – towards humans, the earth and its other inhabitants. This filters through all of our farming practices and decisions – from our crop selection and rotations, to our growing methods, to our pest management, and our strategies.
Zero chemical fertilisers. Zero chemical pesticides. Zero chemical herbicides. We are proud to be members of the Western Cape Farmers PGS, and have been certified as 100% Organic through this organisation since 2017.
As a small-scale farm, we have the advantage of being able to keep a much closer eye on each and every single plant, in every crop. Our produce deserves nothing but the best treatment, so it is treated with love, from seed to sale.
We believe in more than sustainability, striving towards actively aiding the earth. We do so by reducing our packaging as much as possible, using biodegradable where possible, and shifting our farming regenerative, wholistic methods.
